The Importance of Creating a Menu Plan
One of my all-time favourite things to do is PLAN! So when it comes to Food you know I have a plan for what and when we are going to eat.
If you are interested in more information about the Importance of having a meal plan you should check out my youtube channel
Firstly, before you even start your menu planning make sure you have a place to write everything down so you don’t forget it. I have made an awesome template that is compatible with the 21 day fix. You can find the PDF's to my menu plans HERE, or in my files section.

Your next step is to figure out what days you eat what, and when you are going to start your week. I like to meal prep on Mondays, and start my week on Mondays, so I always make that day an easy meal. I also follow a basic guideline of what protein to eat on what day. For example:
Monday - Chicken
Tuesday - Vegetarian/Fish
Wednesday - Pork
Thursday - Beef
Friday - Open
Saturday - Vegetarian
Sunday - Fish
I leave Friday open just to make sure we are eating any leftovers or have a “take out” night. Setting up your week like this makes it MUCH easier to determine what to eat and on what day.
Finally, I’m going to talk to you about the four main reasons why I believe that Creating a Menu plan is important for your journey to a healthier lifestyle.
1. Thinking ahead, and planning ahead help to keep you on track.
You know what you are going to eat ahead of time so you can prepare the food you want to eat and avoid loopholes where you would slack off and eat out or make a bad choice. Like eating a whole tub of ice-cream because you are too lazy to pull out the full bag of carrots from the fridge.
2. When you have a VERY busy schedule like we do, it helps make that dreaded dinner time rush MUCH simpler.
I can make sure that dinner is simple and can be started ahead of time. Or my Husband is able to get it started without me because he knows what the plan is.
3. Budget Budget Budget Budget Budget. I am in LOVE with Budgeting and meal planning goes very well with a budget.
Planning ahead makes your grocery bill stay on track. If you know what you are grabbing before you go, you are less likely to buy unwanted, unhealthy, convenience foods.
4. Planning your week is really important.
If you know you are going to eat out, or somebody has a birthday, than it is easy for you to plan accordingly and make sure the rest of our week is filled with healthy and nutritious meals.
Essentially Meal planning is, in my opinion, the bases to starting to live a healthy lifestyle. If you can set yourself up with a plan, you are already setting yourself up for success.
